RAW files not reading in Lightroom

I just recently purchased a K1 II and for some reason Lightroom won't read my PEF files. First off I have Lightroom 3.2. I have been using Pentax K20D and a K7 camera the past several years and have been shooting PEF files which work with Lightroom. But for the K1 it won't. I can switch to DNG and there isn't a problem. Why won't it read the PEF for this camera but does so for the others?

The earliest LR to support the K1 PEF was v6.51 so you are several versions behind

If there is a specific reason to shoot PEF with the K1 and process in LR then you will need to convert to DNG. Adobe offer a free converter for this purpose

I believe that version of Lightroom does not recognize the .PEF files from the K-1 II. You can use Adobe Camera Raw to convert them to DNG. Download it from here:

Thank you. Looks like it would be best to upgrade the latest Lightroom version anyway

Probably best. You can still find some stand alone versions for sale, but they may not be current enough. Hopefully someone who has experience with it can respond. Otherwise you will have to purchase the subscription version.

Just shoot with DNG raw files. No particular reason to use PEF files at this point.

Your version of Lightroom probably won't open PEF files from anything newer than a K5, I imagine.
