How do we evoke SR when using back button focus?

Hello guys, if we enable back button focus how does the camera enable Shake Reduction?

There should be a shake reduction icon in green on the top right of the display when you have the back display active with the ISO/aperture/Shutter speed values. The shake reduction will then be on and active even if you use back-button focus. There is nothing special you have to do to activate it.

It works the same as when not using back button focus. Are you having a problem with SR not being on when you are expecting it to be?

I have been using back button AF exclusively for years. As the others have said, SR works just the same as with half press AF - indeed I suspect SR is not linked in any way to the AF system.

Yes, as many said; SR will work the same as when use shutter button haft-press for as long as you didn't turn it off, and or using remote control function.

Thank you guys for the replies- I’m used to the mirrorless cameras application of IBIS and because I don’t see the visible effects of the IS in the ovf I forgot this is a DSLR .....it makes perfect sense to initiate SR with shutter button- thanks again for the replies,
More to learn with this K1 ll.

Here's something else to keep in mind. I sold one of my K-S2's to a fellow forum member who rec'd it today. He sent me a panicked PM a little earlier saying that no matter what he tried none of his lenses would autofocus. He looked at what might cause it by doing a search on the forums here and was convinced it was a mirror failure. Said unless I had any suggestions he would have no choice but to immediately re-pack it and send it back to me.

I had not thought anything about sending it to him just as I had it set up: BACK-BUTTON FOCUS. I've used back button focus for years and to me it's the norm. Gosh I'm not at all surprised his immediate thought would have been the camera was bad. I really hopes he reads my PM before heading to the post office. :-(

So before selling your old camera set it back to default shutter!

EDIT: Too late. The buyer sent it back within two hours of receiving it and before reading my PM. Lesson learned. Look for a clean K-S2 with under 5K activations in the for sale section within a day or two and this time I'll set the focus back to default before shipping it.
