This thread needs some example photos!

don't look at me

the only " full frame " sensor cameras I have are the ME Super, Super Program and Z 1

not exactly an " instant " photograph and post pictures set up

Another recommendation for the FA43.

Yep, the FA43 is great, can't go wrong there.

But I'll add, the DA40 is quite good on full frame and is so small it's barely there! Fast and close focusing, quick shift, super sharp, nice character and bokeh. Import with the standard lens profile in Lightroom and you might just say "what vignetting?" like I do.

Wide open, 2.8 @ 1/15th second handheld

40XS.....K-1

fa43.....K-1

both are wide open.....

the 43 is the best pick but the 40xs is no slouch on the K-1.....the samples aren't really 'comparable' as they are vastly different......for the longest time I avoided the fa43 but almost gaining a full stop in speed and shallower dof eventually won over the few extra dollars I had...will also add that shooting film is now part of 'my game' the 43 made sense since the 40xs won't operate on the K-2 or ME super

Pentax DA 35mm F2.4 vs 40mm XS vs 40mm Limited
Introduction

Read more at: Pentax DA 35mm F2.4 vs 40mm XS vs 40mm Limited Review - Introduction | PentaxForums.com Reviews

you won't mistake the 40mm XS for the 40mm Limited

if you look at the body

but if you look at its ability

that is another question

. . The DA 40 XS is by far the smallest and lightest APS-C lens currently being made, and is a brilliant street-shooting tool, much like its skinny-but-not-emaciated elder brother. We find 40mm to be a bit of a swiss army knife focal length on a crop-sensor camera—take a few steps toward your subject and it becomes a lovely short portrait lens, take a few steps back and it can capture landscapes, architecture (to a certain extent), and serve as a general walkaround tool.

Ultimately, any of these three will get you great image quality, durable construction (if a bit chintzy, in the case of the DA 35mm), and a compact and lightweight package. Honestly, despite our desire for a faster or slightly wider normal prime, Pentaxians today are a bit spoiled for choice in this general ballpark, and all of the choices are good ones.

and some must consider the cost difference as well as well

when I had one I called it the best lens in its class ( of one )

In the dog picture the seam on the bedding bottom right right drops out of focus in the right hand corner. that is the sharp focus drop-off I noticed on FF.

sure does....not nearly as bad on the left.....although I am not 'square' to the bedding ( hassock/foot stool ) ......so it may be more out of the plane of focus....but don't really know....I was thrilled not to get black or white edges......unlike putting the da21 on the k-1....oh my! ...it does lack corner sharpness no doubt and it's wide open
