Pentax K1 with DA F4 SMC 300mm

IS there anyone using the DA F4 300mm with there K 1 , wondering about the edges in the frame , Im sure i have read on here somewhere, which i can not find , that there is software in the K1 that will correct this ? my 150 to 450mm has gone to Japan for repair , who knows when i will hear back on it , im thinking about picking up this 300mm lens , I have a K3ii as well just wondering about the compatibility with the K 1 .

Many thanks in advance if you can help

Alan

The DA* 300mm is officially a full-frame lens. The entire frame is covered

If you have the crop set to auto, it will crop it. But there is little vignetting in full frame mode, none that I've noticed in any case. It doesn't focus quite as positively as the 150-450, but not awful.

As has been said the DA* 300 is a FF optical design and works just fine. Indeed the Pentax software in the K1 has lens correction parameters for this lens in both FF and crop mode.

It is a FF combination made in heaven. The DFA 200mm F2.8 is also great with the K1.

I recommend the DA* 400/4 SDM abolutely. Optically very nice lens, really sharp, good contrast, pleasant bokeh. SDM-driven AF a bit slow. Not too heavy.

I got one a few months ago. Ricoh had them on their US website as refurbished for $599. Solid performer so far. I really like it. I have only used it on my K1-II camera. As mentioned, I turn off the setting that automatically switches the camera to APSc mode when I have DA lenses mounted on the camera.
