Silver K-1 - disabling guide display

My first one, and going through the settings I can't figure out how to turn off the guide display.
Enlightenment, please.

The setting is in tab 5 of the record menu, under "other display settings", I believe.

but if you want this change to be permanent, you need to let the camera know

Adam is correct about the guide display setting location, but changing it does not have the desired effect, I'm stumped.

What do you mean under "guide display"? Rear LCD screen? If you want to turn off it, push INFO button twice and select "empty" rectangle

If your talking about the LCD then you can turn it off via using the Info button.

BTW, if true they only mfd. 1000 units, my serial #0000338.

Are you sure, does Pentax even make that many cameras of all models in total?
