How often do you shoot in the rain?

Many of my Pentax cameras are weather proof. Even so, they rarely get used in the rain without protection. How about you?

Thanks,
barondla

I live in Newfoundland! If you don't go out in the rain you are homebound!

Don't forget that they are not weather *proof* but rather weather *resistant*... That being said, I've shot in the rain without worry, however I tend not to, as I generally prefer not being out in the rain...

I've done it in some steady rain with my KP before. Wasn't too worried honestly. Had to make the shot

I rarely do photography *during* rain because light's not so good, and I am personally only weather resistant not weatherproof. I do a lot of photography during humid conditions, though. Unique lighting can be found just before or after a storm, and a slight shift in weather means I get rained on.

I have to have a very strong need to go out in the rain!
It would be an "accident" if I took photos in the rain.

I should clarify something: I don't seek this out and no piece of tech is infallible. You do so at your own risk

I shot with my K-3 while riding the Maid of the Mist boat around the bottom of Niagara Falls - no problem during lots of mist/spray.

But, as others have noted - you are not "weatherproof" just weather resistant.

I've shot in the rain maybe 3 times and each time was very unplanned - very grateful for WR/AW

About once or twice a month? In winter it's nice to know there's a rating for freezing resistance. For my own comfort and to protect the camera, i tend to use an umbrella if possible.

I tend not to bring my camera out when it's raining as I generally don't like the light during those times. However, I have been caught in rain/adverse weather with my camera a fair few times (say 10-15/year).

Here's an image taken during a drizzle:

I've used all my WR bodies in the rain. I prefer to get my flower shots while it's raining; plus, the rain often leaves arboretums and gardens devoid of people. I could spend a couple hours in constant rainfall, with an occasional retreat under some covering. I've done that with my K-1 and K-5 IIs several times, usually with the DFA 100mm Macro. I also don't baby them at all. They're out in the open.

I have no wr primes. The zooms are not meant to zoom in rain. I do bring it out in the rai but it is a headache when you have to leave it extended until you can dry it. Today shooting toads breeding, I didn't worry as it was only a few drops not gushing around the seals as I closed it.

I deliberately go out to do street photography in the rain sometimes. Different atmospherics and interesting reflections. The DFA* 50 and DFA* 70-200 get particular use; both are the superior AW, so I feel pretty secure.
