How Stiff Should the Flippy Screen Be?

I was testing out the Astrotracer feature the other night on my new K1 (to me, it's otherwise very well used) while using live view and noticed the screen didn't want to stay put when it was extended, and would slowly reposition itself using gravity until settling against the arm stops. I don't have another K1 to compare against but it seems a little looser than it should be.

Is that normal, or does it stay pretty much exactly as positioned on most peoples K1's? Is there a DIY way to tighten the screen arms up a little that anyone has done? Searching the forums didn't turn up much, but perhaps I'm not using the correct term.

Mine doesn't move at all under gravity. It is nicely stiff. A nice piece of engineering too.

The screen on my k1ii requires deliberate action to move, it's not stiff but very far from sliding on its own. Actually, I've always been impressed with just how nice it feels, kind of like how some nicer manual focus rings have the right amount of resistance

On my K-1 the rear screen friction is about right, not too lose so the screen stays when I put it, not to stiff so that I can easily pull it out. On the K1 I add a tiny bit of oil to reduce friction. On my K1 II there is more fiction because I used it less and did add any lubricant. There may be a way to tighten the rails, I don't know.

Stiff enough but not too much - applies to my K-1 so far.

Good to know that other K1s stay where positioned and what I'm seeing isn't typical. Now to figure out how to stiffen mine up without overdoing it...

Look for play as you move it and see if there's any on the screen side. The only screws I see are mounted to the back of the screen. Perhaps some of them have loosened up.

Mine is pretty tight and doesn't move under it's own weight. Feels very solid.

I think that may be the case actually. There does seem to be a fair bit of play on the screen side.
