Setting K-1 file name

I went to edit the file name on my K-1 today but could not find the delete character button. I swear there was one a few years ago. Perhaps it got nuked in the latest firmware update?

Simply choose the position, the desired letter and overwrite

That is not what I want to do. I want to delete one character from the end, not replace it.

To delete one character, position the cursor to the right of that which is to be deleted, and press the "sh*t-can" button on the lower left of the back of the camera.

Correct. See pp. 104-105 of the instructions.

Yes, that is how it used to work. But there is no longer a space character available to use to overwrite things. It must have been lost in one of the firmware updates. I will reload the firmware to see if it returns.

Reloaded K-1 v1.55 firmware but still no space available in File Name setting to erase a character. Could someone also on v1.55 check to see if it is the same on their K-1, please?

Just checked my K-3 and it is the same as the K-1 for file naming. I believe that one is forced to use a four-character file name even if a 3-character name is what you want. I want to change K1A_ to K1_ but I can only change it to K1__ with two underscores. There is no way to delete the last underscore.

Hi,
Instead of a trailing underscore, I do use a leading underscore and three letters.
