Some of you must have soooo much fun when you have to value your camera gear for insurance purposes :-) I can just imagine the gotchas the insurers could use to worm themselves out of paying.

The hard part is getting a value for the vintage equipment.

depends on you
And how much storage space you have (I'm running out of drawers and shelves, and the 1200 sq ft garage is pretty full, too)

Now I'm realizing that I'm falling behind with only five Pentax bodies: K-5, K-x (actually my wife's camera, but I'm the only one who uses it these days), MZ-S, Super Program, and ME Super. Time to start planning my next camera purchase!

So, you are going to make me count. I never use my *IstD or K10. I have an Asahiflex H2, K, SL, Spotmatic, Spotmatic II, K1000, KX, K2, Super Program, PZ-1, Pz-1P, K-3 and a K-50. Oh, and an Auto 110. I'm working on an MX on the back burner. Six sounds like a good start to me.

Or one can invoke the often-promised answer:

Just. One. More.

To be clear my body count earlier was confined to Pentax. I also have Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus. Oh and an Arrow!

In the guitar world it's called GAS, for "Gear Acquisition Syndrome".

Only 6 digital bodies? What about film bodies? Let's see... Digital: K-1 MK2, K-1, K-3. K20D, ist-DS. Then film: 3-ME Supers, 2-K1000s, 1-Spotmatic ES, Spotmatic, Spotmatic II, and about 15 assorted non operational Pentax film bodies.... Then there's the glass library. It's not a condition...I keep repeating that to convince myself....

I have three Pentax digital bodies. Okay, pretty normal. But ten autofocus film bodies, over a dozen manual focus K-mount film bodies, and about twenty screw mount bodies. Then again, I do count myself as a collector. An Original Asahi Pentax and Pentax K are my oldest. Rarest is an Asahiflex H2.

This doesn't count parts cameras of which there are surprisingly few, only four, another Pentax K, a P3, a P5 and an A3000.

Current users are the three digitals...I still use even the *istDS...the PZ-1, LX, MX, and the first Pentax I owned, an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, purchased in 1969. With the cost involved the film bodies get used slowly and methodically.

Two months ago I replaced shutter tapes on the Heiland H2 that I bought in 1970 as a backup/B&W body for that Spotmatic.

The collection also has about twenty twin-lens reflexes from their heyday in the 1950s including eight Rolleiflex, two YashicaMats and two Minolta Autocords and two 127-film "baby Tales, a grey Rollei and a Topcon-built Sawyers. They all work but I seldom use them or my 1964 Nikon F and Canon VI-T...I never felt comfortable with them, guess I'm an SLR photographer.

I would say his addition is mild..... I have 3 Nikons, 2 Fujifilm, 3 Pentax and 33 lenses..... and am looking at the GR III and/or the Fuji XT4. However, it is one of my hobbies. If it makes you feel good - why not

I bought my first Pentax ME in 1977, and since I seldon sell my old gear, unless I have at least two copies, I think I have more Pentax gear than the average photograper. To make it relative short, including family members gear (relativly few - all in all):

Bodies:
4 digital bodies wich all works + my 1 daughter got one
9 film bodies with the K or KA mount + 3 bodies that are not in perfect condition
7 film bodies with the M42 mount
2 Auto 110
1 6x7
1 Q

Lenses:
7 autofocus for digital/film + 3 for my daughter
21 manual for K/A mount
9 lenses for M42
2 lenses for 6x7
4 lenses for Auto 110
3 lenses for Q

Flashes
6 flashes for film/digital
1 flash for Auto 110

Other digital Pentax cameras (included from family menbers):
Pentax EL-2000
Pentax I-10
Pentax MX-1
2 Pentax Optio S50 (with 1 diving house til 40 m)
1 Pentax Optio S40
2 Pentax Optio WG-60
1 Pentax X5
1 Pentax XG-1

Other Pentax film compact bodies:
1 Pentax Espio 120 Mi
1 Pentax Espio 735
1 Pentax PC313
1 Pentax Efina

Plus extension tubes, adapters, filters and more made from Pentax.

Plus I have 5 film bodies from other brands with some lenses and some older compact cameras form other brands. And of course flashes from other brands.

I don't know what to call my self. MAD?

Perhaps, the original poster needs to get back and offer some advice as to how she/he has kept their collection to so few cameras. Some of you might benefit :-)
