This is a new development I think "* When this update is done, you will not be able to restore back to version 1.55 or earlier." Same message for the K-1 II. I also am surprised the DFA21 hasn't featured yet.

Do you know or are you going by the feature list of the firmware?

It's really strange if they fail to provide profiles. Its already very late.

Since I always shoot RAW and my software does nothing with image profiles. I never use them. My K-1 is still on 1.52 so I missed a couple of updates already. Since I don't have any new AF glass I'm only missing out on Improved stability for general performance.

Lightroom development: homemade burger. Satobi: eating out in a burger bar or chain. I don't mind either, so I'll use Satobi once it is there for our benefit. I like how images look when applying it.

Suddenly it is no longer possible to go back to older firmware versions... Why is that?

That's always been the case. They just happen to mention in the notes this time. But if you have older Pentax cameras you can't go backward on the firmware version. I think the K-10 had a different firmware version that allowed for back tracking, but other than that, you can't go backwards.

That is not correct. I have gone back to earlier FW on K-1 several times before this update.

Not likely. And not coming to the K-70 either. Apparently the reason is that the KP's development environment is completely different. It's addressed in this article from last year, but you'll need to use a translator.

And yet the k-1 and k-1ii which ALSO have a different environment we’re selected to be supported in this. This is a choice and porting it to the k-1 series suggests that it might be possible to have ported it to the KP which came after the k-1 and before the k-1ii.

Good. shall try. Former newest firmware did not work with Image Transmitter II.
When home I'll try it.

Correction:Latest Image Transmitter II update did not work. In pretext it said it needed rev 1.6 firmware thought it did not exist then. Now that firmware is out.

This is really regrettable.

I thought it was fantastic that the K-1 firmwares, up until and including V1.55, supported "downgrading" as well as upgrading.
It is now unlikely that I'll give V1.60 a go, as it would lock me into a version that may not work for me for one reason or another.

Image Transmitter II (latest Version 2.6.1) does work with the new firmware V1.6 on my K-1 and did also with the firmware before.

No need to fix what ain't broke.
I don't think there's a lot new in this update, and if you read later of some addition or fix that sounds useful you can always update later. I got by just fine not updating some cameras until months later. This time I did a day 1.
