We got Rob fixed up with a charger.

He and his brother stopped briefly at my house this evening to pick up my spare charger for his K-1 D-Li90 battery (which seems only fitting, since it was a spare to me, from my K-1 purchase - I've been using my K-3 charger for many years and never even bothered to unpack the K-1 unit until today).

I live only a mile or so off their route to the Grand Canyon.

Good to hear! Remind me to look you up if I ever get back out that way.

Thanks for the replies all, and special thanks to Dave for his hospitality and lending me his battery and charger. I’ve been driving all day so have only just managed to get back to this thread.

Have a great time! I haven’t been to the canyon since about ten years ago. I managed to get down to Ooh Ahh point on the Kaibob trail and did some rim walking but I am hoping to get back and do a full hike to phantom ranch and an overnight stay in the future.

My wife went there. She came back and told me, "It's BIG!".

My wife has never been and says things like, “it’s a big hole in the ground, why go there?” I just shake my head.

My wife, who's been around the world a bit, says that the Canyon and the fjords of Norway are the two places she's been that more than live up to advance billing.

I don’t know what the K-1 demands, but I used some Energizer Lithium {non-rechargeable} batteries in my K-30 at one time.

Nope, sadly. Though I will try to figure it out once I’m home as I really want to be able to use AA’s as backups

I have tried those on my camera/grip when you first posted about this issue and it should work even without in camera battery. Maybe some contacts within the grip itself got corded, AA basket use a different set of pins than the dli90 one.

I have been having issues with the grip on my K1 MK2, I think since the last software update. I use AA batteries in the grip, both Alkaline and Lithium rechargeable. When the setting is "Grip First", the grip batteries aren't recognized, but if I use the "Auto" setting, all is good.
