Most fun lens???

I'm curious, and realize this will be entirely personal and subjective, but what is the one lens you look forward to using the most on your K1?

Maybe it's the feel, the image quality, the bokeh.

Old SMC-K, or new Limited?

I'm curious, and looking for GAS/Christmas present to myself...

First choice is the SMC Pentax K 28mm F3.5 Shift. It provides the magic of correcting (or exaggerating) the perspective in landscapes and architectures as well as the challenge of using such a very very manual lens. It's a definite "slow-down-and-think" lens.

Second is the Sigma EX DG Aspherical 12-24mm F4.5-5.6. At 12mm on a K-1, it is crazy-wide which really pulls in deep valleys, tall mountains, and the sweep of the sky. It's also a champ for large interior architecture such as cathedrals, atriums, train stations, etc. (It's so wide that if you stand in the corner of a room, you see all four walls!)

Well it has been almost a year since I got my copy of the the SMCP-DFA 21mm f/2.4 ED ASPH Limited.

It has been a lot of fun having such an impressively sharp weather resistant and fast AF ultra wide angle prime after so many years.

First choice like photoptimist would be the SMC Pentax 28mm Shift lens - And then after that the SMC Pentax-A 15mm lens.

Regards

Nah it's all about the dinged up Takumars.

I have a 55mm f1.8 that is half covered in paint, the filter threads are stuffed, the helicoid is wobbly when you focus. It must have been used in a high school years ago prior to me finding it. Anyway it lives on what ever camera I'm using most of the time. Don't care if it starts raining, doesn't have a lens cap, who cares if it gets another ding.

In other words, find yourself the nastiest Tak you can and go nuts

Pentax FA 43. Will be packing it again this Xmas for family shots. My parents are in their nineties and there are new great grandchildren this year. The posterity shots are the most important.

If I had a K-1 one of the first lenses I'd use is my Peleng 8mm fisheye … still dreaming … still saving

A few suggestions from my side (in no particular order):

Samyang/Rokinon 85mm f/1.4

SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.2

SMC Pentax 200mm f/2.5

Takumar 35mm f/2.3

SMC Pentax 135mm f/2.5

All of the above take on crop frame, so YMMV on a K1.

What a lovely question!

K1-II user here.

If I think about it logically, SMC-M 20/f4.0. Just about as wide as you can get while having straight lines. Owned it forever. It'll be in service tomorrow night for our holiday party.

If I don't think at all...emotionally...a rather yellowed Super-Takumar 55/f2.0. It's just a warm cozy blanket. The colors, images and just the pure joy of the feel. Many "better" lenses in the quiver, but for some reason which I simply can't put into words. A fun lens.

Enjoy!

Same here, way back when this lens was released , film days, kodachrome etc and I would pop in a photo into the local camera club competitions. Inevitably the judge would be confused about how it was made, the sharp image inside the soft image that this lens produces is really unique, well worth experimenting with, The best part of using it it the "lens cap" made of soft felt , it feels so nice to attach

The last photo; amazing how a wide angle lens can produce such high quality bokeh.
That alone makes me want to have it.

Over the year I have posted a few images that show off the bokeh of the DFA21, though considering the fact that the lens was designed with the express purpose of having superb bokeh my efforts feel a little redundant.
