Just confirming that the original K1 would not be a good fit for lenses with electronic aperture control such as the DFA* 50/1.4? KAF2 vs KAF4 or something like that?

There's a used one for sale near me but I don't want it if the 50 won't work on it. I'd use it mostly with the 150-450 (for low angle shots of shorebirds that are impossible with the K3-iii) but I feel it'd be a waste if I can't use the 50 on it. I guess this is where an aperture ring on the lens would have been handy.

The the digital K-1 Mark 1 is compatible.

KAF4 lenses can be used with the K-1 with updated firmware (v1.20 minimum).

just grab that K-1 if price is good. As already mentioned, K-1 works without any problem with KAF4 lenses after firmware update

Thanks! I didn't realize this was addressed in a firmware update.

Conundrum indeed. Either buy a used K1-1 or for a grand and a bit more, get a new A7iii (with warranty) with the Monster adapter. The latter would enable all the fancy AF capabilities... Hmmm.

I took the DFA * 50/1.4 for a nice stroll in Tokyo with the blessings of the folks at the Pentax Clubhouse.

Stuck it on my K1-II

Lovely, just lovely!

The K-1 is a modern lens. It is and will remain compatible with all K mount lenses.
