Exactly. They're not putting Pentax stickers on Ricoh bodies.

I don't mean financial holdings, it's about the technology, design, history and culture - all those things we owners are passionate about.

I also applaud Ricoh for allowing Pentax to continue being Pentax. Or in more correct terms, for allowing the Pentax brand to continue building along the traditional strengths that Pentax had previously established. In addition, I applaud Ricoh in their efforts to incorporate Ricoh sourced strengths and especially to advance the synergy of future developments built upon the Pentax foundation!

The RICOH - PENTAX relationship seems to be working out very synergistically indeed, with Pentax being given the space they need to "continue being Pentax" - which is wonderful for all of us who have loved Pentax for what it has always been.

An excellent example of RICOH's approach. Way to go!!

RICOH appear to have no issues with letting Pentax continue being Pentax, they're comfortable with this and not insecure at all.

Some handy observations in that review. But it's still a pre-production K-1, unfortunately. According to Google translate:

the K-1, which was this time trial is still a prototype in development. That is not a complete K-1.

Some of the menus were disabled, the WiFi didn't work, etc.

It would probably have been sensible for him to wait just a week or two, and submit a review based on a fully working K-1.

I've just been reading the latest update on the 'Challengers' section of the K-1 site (Challengers | PENTAX K-1 Special site | RICOH IMAGING) - everything I read about the design process makes me more sure that they deserve a major success with this one - my finances are a bit shakey at the moment, so I haven't pre-ordered, but I can't imagine not owning one in the end - out of gratitude and encouragement to Ricoh/Pentax as well as out of naked desire on my part
