They did mention that the 50 f2 was used as it was the only old Pentax lens they had and they knew it was a poor lens but just wanted to see what it looked like on and to use. Not sure it that comment was in the article or in a response to a reader's comment.

Luckily they didn't have an empty Coke bottle lying around or they would have stuck that in front of the mount and complained about the K-1.

People should really read that item to remind themselves of what he's like.

Especially what he calls you 'Aspergers' types who love manual glass.

I wonder if they tested the AF with the same M50/2 they mounted for the product photo?
No, they tested the tracking AF with the D-FA 15-30mm f/2.8 @ 15mm - bear in mind even the Nikon D4s has problems with tracking AF with the 14-24mm f/2.8G at the 14mm end unless the subject is really close.

So he's suggesting that instead of Pentax forums we should be Aspergers forum?

It's not just the owners, but the gear he has a go at.

The cameras are 'primitive', and the Canon 6D is 'superior' to the K-1.

Gets him hits, I suppose, being rent-a-mouth.

you missed the point... of course a slow lens that's decades old isn't going to be optimal, everyone knows that, so why did they make an ignorant comment about its pq in the review? it was a cheap shot at the k-1.

by comparison, did they put an ancient nikon 50/2 lens in the d800 first look? and mention how much it sucked on 36mp? i'm gonna guess no

dpr can be such a fail, for example, the forums are overrun with sock puppets trolling multiple fake ids, that seldom get banned: Please put a stop to this character: Site Feedback and Help Forum: Digital Photography Review

i thought that adam wrote an overall better intro to the k-1 than dpr did.

has any article mentioned what the efcs capability of the k-1 is?
True question : is the Nikon brand and their "common" users known for their love and frequent usage of legacy lenses, dating regularly as far back as the 60s?
Pentax and their users, me the first, always talk about how we can use old legacy glasses on our Pentax camera.
To me, it sounds like good journalism from dpreview to acknowledge this particularity of the Pentax system and of their users. They should have used the m50 1.7 of course, but I don't see why people make a big deal out of it.

(to answer directly one of your question, I don't think d810 potential customer were interested I the least to know how an old 50mm form the 60s was gonna perform on it. I could be wrong, of course, but say it's the case, then it explains why dpR didn't do it on the d810 preview they did back then. I find it strange when people try to make a case for dpreview intentionally bashing Pentax. They are not perfectly objective of course, and surely we are not either, but when Pentax does something right, they aknowledge it. I actually bought a Pentax my first dslr based, amongst other things, on their review of it.

Hahaha!! This guy's a character. I was waiting for some kind of slam. It's all good, though. He's a hard core Canon fanatic & even thinks the Nikon D5 & D500 are obsolete now since the coming of the new high end Canon FF.

They were less enthused with AF than kenspo apparently is. They don't think the LCD mount will be durable. And they don't think old lenses are worth using. Other than that, they seem surprisingly positive.
Personally, I've been suspicious of that LCD's durability since I first saw it. However, people have posted that it is the same as the 645 and that has proven durable.
What I really want to see is a hands on review by this forum with the new kit lens (28-105) because that is probably all I can afford at this time and because I consider that range almost ideal.
