So...which lenses work with the K-1?

I'm still sorta confused about which lenses will work in FF glory on the K-1.

The guide here doesn't mention the 150-450mm or the 200mm or 300mm teles. The DPReview article says the 200 and 300mm are fully FF, but says the 70 ltd and 40XS are FF only stopped down, and doesn't list the 100mm macro.

What about Samyang/Rokinon primes? Takumars? would basically all the old film era stuff I have work FF? (Boy, glad I invested in all that if these become the major source of FF glass for a while).

I assume F series zooms would also only work cropped...or no?

And assuming the old glass does work FF, I wonder whether say my old Tamron adaptall long zooms (80-210, 60-300), which I think are pretty great anyway, might actually work better than the DA tele zooms? Obviously ignoring stuff like lack of autofocus, etc.

If it says DFA then it is a lens designed for digital that covers the full frame image circle. So 150-450 is fully FF compatible

That would sort of be the definition of FF, so yes all the film gear will work. How well it works, well we will have to see.

Umm, no. The F series was designed for film or full frame, so they will be fully compatible.

There are no DA tele-zooms that are FF compatible, though the 60-250 looks like it will be usable with some vignetting. How good your old zooms will be is open to conjecture. On APS-C you have been using only the center of the lens, what they will look like when the whole image circle is used is unknown at this time.

Everything that is not a DA lens will cover the full sensor, i.e. 'Work'. Some of the DA lenses are FF designs (200, 300) and a number of others. Anything D-FA for sure works.

There's a test thread in the lens Forum. I'd link but I'm on my phone.

I think the A* 1200 will work just fine.

Yes some exceptions are not produced any longer, but most are readily available somewhere in shops. If you find some errors, keep them. No whining in this thread.

Or how about a visual... what lenses will work with your K-1?
There's a least 75 lenses there.
It makes Sony look like a bunch of slackers.

They will ALL work in APS-C mode.
Any film-era lens will work in full-frame mode, subject to the need to push the green button for metering on pre-A lenses or engage Av mode if that's how you play with your Takumars.
What you do with the DA lenses is up to you - APS-C/auto mode, full frame and crop in post, or live with the heavy vignetting if you think you can.

Thanks guys.

I don't suppose there are comparisons of say a K-3II with a 40mm XS wide open vs same lens wide open in crop mode on the K-1 yet? IOW, is a crop lens on the new FF sensor gonna have better IQ than the same on APS-C sensor?

Per the other thread: DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM: -
- indicates does not work for FF

So you'll have to use the cropped mode.
