Why you will buy the K-1?

Your K, M and D-FA lenses will thank you. Some of the others, possibly not so much.

All the previous "DA on full frame" threads are irrelevant - now we get to find out exactly how they perform on a full frame sensor on their home platform, fully functional and with all the in-camera distortion correction tricks available and turned on from the start. This is what matters, and IMO it is the only thing that has ever mattered. Because let's face it, putting a DA lens on anything else full-frame is pretty much turning it into a crippled Takumar.

Short answer: It depends on my 2015 income tax return.

My RV van is in the shop for $3k of scheduled work to improve the ride and halt a chassis rust issue because I want to get another 5+ years from it. I had time to save money to pay for the repairs so I'm fortunately not in a hole from the van work. My income taxes are on hold waiting for some statements, but if I get a refund it will go towards the K-1.

Because I buy all the first gen Flagships. I have the K-7, 5 and 3 and skipped the ii models in between. So I must buy the K-1 when the time is right.

I am with you but I have the K5IIs. It is not the camera that holds me back but like the one cartoon says "If I was a better photographer I would take better pictures".

I do understand how it will benefit some in their type or style of photography but will not for me. If the K5II was too die on me in the near future, or my wife's K5 then it would be either the K-1 or the K3II that we would get. I only have one lens that is not full frame so it is not that reason not to get the K-1.

Not anytime soon. I'll stick with the K-3 for telephoto and just picked up a 645Z for serious landscape/portrait stuff so....

I won't.

At least not now, I won't. Despite there being lots and lots of things I would like on the K-1. Such as the big, bright viewfinder. And the third e-dial. And a sensor that fits my nifty fifties.

APS is just a better format for me. M43 would probably fit even better, but I'm not ready to give up the OVF.

When it's $850 next Fall of 2017 I'll buy it. Not a joke. I'm betting with the way camera prices fall that figure is not too far off. And if I'm lucky.....maybe this Fall

The main reason why I bought my first Pentax was old legacy FF glass, and Pentax was the most convenient solution after I did extensive research.
So, now Pentax seems to deliver the IDEAL solution for it. How can I resist?

don't know, really. Wildlife is my first activity, so... can't tell if it's a good choice, my k5IIs + 300mm + 150-450 actually do the job.... maybe if pentax create some good, not too expensive digital FF primes...

Essentially, the K1 is an enhanced K3, and by extension, takes lineage from the K5/K7.
The magnesium body, weather sealing and all the awesome features of the camera make it a definite addition to my tools.
The price kept me away from going the 645D route.

I am disappointed with the video - but exceptionally happy overall.
It will be an awesome tool. Very happy.
