I could see a concrete statement from Pentax one way or the other resolving it. I personally haven't heard such a statement from them.
They have made concrete statements, multiple times, but because of language and cultural differences, we won't accept them as concrete. For a Japanese businessman, "we are not prioritizing reintroducing that feature" is pretty blunt - about as close to "no" as you are going to get. They are simply too polite to say, "we will never do that" - that would be like dropping f-bombs in front of your grandmother.

I am still not convinced by the "lack of space" reason. I think this is likely the superficial reason, but that they could overcome the challenge if they really wanted to.
Again, they are giving us an opportunity to back off and save face, but we just won't take "no" for an answer. If they ever say "if there is a business case, we will look into doing that", THEN there is a chance it will happen - otherwise, they are telling us "no" and we aren't listening.

It makes one wonder what a valid business case for the aperture linkage would look like to them if there is one they would consider valid...

Oh you mean the pin that the Nex user that previously owned my lens had cut off so it wouldn't interfere with his adapter? ... I wondered what that was for. SO there's my advice... cut it off, pretend like it's not there. It works for me.
I own a very special Vivitar Series 1 90-180mm flat field zoom that I purchased new, used it on my KX and ME Super film cameras. When I purchased my K-30, I couldn't mount the lens due to a large flange on my beloved Series 1. My only option was to modify the flange by removing part of it. After some slight surgery, it now fits fine. I currrently used it on my K-30 by engaging the 'green button' but I'm beginning to question why I don't just remove the pin. I guess the reason I have not done it is because the way I use it, the 'green button' is not an inconvenience.

The gist of my story is a little surgery is sometimes necessary and it most ofter helps rather than hinders.
