Best wide angle lens for K-1?

My tip would be the M 20 F4, because it's really a wide-angle lens, it's small and very well build, even though the edges seem to be a little blurry.
If you want to go for a great price-performance ratio i would consider the M 28 3.5. Its performance is great all over the frame, it is already great from open aperture.
I bought the K 35 3.5 because it is told to be one of the sharpest lenses in that area.

I consider it a f5.6 lens. It is great if you treat it as such.

I just didn't like the idea of having a lens, which is only good at f5.6, even though there are cheaper, sharper solutions which are also cheaper than the M 28 2.8.
The M 28 3.5 is my favorite lens beside my M 50 1.4

Are you talking wide or ultrawide? I mean, the best wide angle lens option is probably still the 31mm limited. But you're probably talking ultrawide.

Rokinon 8mm Fisheye HD - the one with the removable hood.

That'll give you a very wide view... albeit with some wasted space, and a circular shape.

The samyang/rokinon/etc 14mm rectilinear is probably the best ultrawide inexpensive option.

IIRC the Sigma 10-20mm stops vignetting at f8 around 12 or 14mm, so that's another option, perhaps.

Is the sigma 12-24 still the widest FF zoom?

I don't think any of the crop-sensor UWA zooms (whether Sigma or Pentax) are realistic options in FF mode.

The Sigma 12-24 would be the widest rectilinear lens - zoom or prime. How you measure a fisheye comes into play. Probably the widest would be the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm, which is stereographic (somewhat less fishy).

I have a Tokina 19-35 so in case I ever am able to afford the K-1, it's not a fantastic lens but it's pretty decent up to the full frame borders from f/5.6 on. Center sharpness in my copy compares well to my DA 35 2.4 from f/4.5 on, it's that impressive. But it also has a lot of distortion at its widest FL.

I checked this lens on FF on flickr. Yes! That's exactly what I want 14mm range on FF. So, I can narrow search around 14-20mm, or go for 14mm prime.
Distortion can be corrected.

Here's a sample of the 8mm Rokinon with the hood still on, 35mm film. Poor scan. It would crop well or make nice circular images if you had a removable hood.

Edit, here's another one that really shows the edges well. Bad scan from my local film developer.

I just bought an A20/2.8 w/ hood specifically to use with K-1. If AF is a requirement the FA is equally good.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the k18 can do on the k-1. I've got the A20 as well, but I'm not expecting anything special from that lens. (The k18 is better). To be honest though, I'd probably say either the new 15-30, the FA24, or fA31 would be the best options. Failing those, samyang.

Yeah, the K18 is better, but I don't think I've ever seen one for sale in the wild.

And it's too late now. This camera will be a smash.

Mother in law's cave is awaiting. It isn't as though I don't have fairly good FF lenses already (although all manual focus on the wide end). I'll take the wait-and-see attitude; future is not entirely clear until people start really using the camera. Despite complaining that Pentax made a mistake by taking on Canon and Nikon directly, I do think the particular aim was just right (D750/810 and 5Diii pricing for a camera w/ specs $800 higher).

Clackers, what was on the receiving end of that FF shot?
