Understand what a full frame K 1 is capable of, but not totally familiar with lens/sensor science. I made a mistake purchasing the DA 16-50...refund of money done, lesson learned...I'll save up for the 24-70...it will be awhile. However, what I want are lenses made with only the K1 in mind ...Thank you.
Lenses for the K1:
Newer AF versions
DFA 15-30/2.8
DFA 24-70/2.8
DFA 70-200/2.8

Older AF Lenses
FA* 28-70/2.8
FA*80-200/2.8
FA*24/2
FA*85/1.4
FA 50/1.4
FA 50/1.7
FA 31/1.8 Limited
FA 43/1.9 Limited
FA 77/1.8 Limited
F 50/1.4
F 50/1.7

Manual Lenses
A 50/1.2
A 50/1.4
A 50/1.7
A 50/2

These are some of the lenses that the K1 can use.

That's a very good list. I'll add one more that is relevant to this discussion: the Pentax FA 20/2.8

I got my Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 HSM for less than 400. I imagine it will be great. I also got my Sigma 12-24 for under 350, again, I imagine it will be good.
I have both and they are excellent values...to me the 12-24 is the sharper of the 2 but I prefer the 24-70 over the similar Tamron version on my K-1. SIGMA's glass seems sharper and better constructed to me, but that is subjective. The only drawback to these lenses are the fact that they are huge in comparison to similar limited designs. The 12-24 is well-balanced on the K-1 because of the body's weight and bulk. I occasionally use these large lenses on my K-3ii, but only with the battery grip attached so it acts as balance. I would never put either lens on my KP because even with the larger grip attached, it still isn't close to balanced.

Still the images are excellent and are great companions for the K-1, particularly as Pentax ekes their way through its Full Frame lens 'roadmap'

Preordering or not, but I will get K-1, and I realized that I don't have any wide lens for it, only old M45 Vivitar 20mm f3.8. It's a great lens, but adding wide AF would be a plus.

I really did not pay attention to wide lens selection, except I wanted DA15mm ltd, now it's not the priority
Any recommendations for any AF generation wide lenses, primes or zooms for FF?
Hey, check out Sigma's EX 17-35 f2.8 Aspherical I've enjoyed the image quality I get using this lens. I hope that PENTAX will develop and produce a 16-50, or a 16-70. When I am out doing landscapes I often meet or see people, animals, and other subject matter where a quick change to a longer fl is needed. IF the K 1 and it's upgraded twin are the flagship camera for RICOH/PENTAX, a lens like this with superior optics would not only get attention, it would (I believe) make inroads into more market share. I love my K 1. In the mean time, I am pleased with the optics of my Sigma EX 17-35. It's not WR, but it has performed well.

And I will probably be selling mine soon....
