Those are awesome.

Here the only butterflies are at the current indoor exhibit. These are with the Sigma 180 3.5 Macro that I acquired last fall. I never thought I would get this lens till I found for a price I could not refuse. So far it has not let me down.
I am not insect expert by any means and can only identify these by the brochure from the Conservatory.
Zebra Mosaic

I could not really identify this one, the closest I could come up with was Doris Longwing.

Here is an example of a front focused shot... the AF got lost in the busy branches and grabbed the leaves in the central Select-9 focus points because I couldn't keep the fast little bugger inside the box. My bad, not the K-1. But, for some reason I still kinda like this shot, you can almost see the flutterby's expression as he turns his head towards me? or his target...

smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM ƒ/5.6 300.0 mm 1/1600 ISO800

Target re-acquired here, or he is still giving me the stink eye... and the AF locked back on, but just...

smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM ƒ/5.6 300.0 mm 1/1600 ISO400

And he sticks the landing

Thank you Scorpio! I like your indoor flutterby's as well. That Sigma does good work in your hands. Looking forward to seeing more.

Superb shots all !
Love the detail and decay in that first one Frederic. I assume that is the bloom you shot earlier in it's prime? Very cool.

irek83, nice TE & composition.
AZGMDale, real nice River-Island series, the first one is my favorite.
BruceBanner, terrific Suicidal series, nice shooting.
savoche, beautiful capture, awesome scene.
JeanPoitiers, very nice B&W shots, I like the compositions.
Frederic, that last shot with the Topaz Effects is really cool, love the colors.
ZeGaby, your Two at Sunset is especially nice, I like the horizontal transitions and the way you included the trees rather than use them as a border frame.
Eric, that flutterby or skipper was sticking his tongue out at you...
Best Regards, Bob
