Contre jour and dust from the faster riders created an interesting look for me. K-1 and the D-FA* 70-200mm.

I see there's a PP discussion so thought I'd share a jpeg of the RAW with none of the PP I added above. Beyond the 4:5 crop, the PP I chose will be considered heretical by some but the extra contrast makes better use of the light rays coming through the dust. Like the earlier post I added yesterday I'm not trying to create something garish I'm aiming to subdue the less relevant parts of an image and provide detail and light to the part of the image I want people to look at. There's one adjustment to the PP image that I'd make other than that, which do you prefer?

Tas
PP shot for sure.

D-FA* 70-200mm, again same PP as the previous shots.

I just thought it was interesting how the focal point totally changes these 2 shots and closer view changes the 3rd pic.

Tourists checking out Painted Wall at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP on Sunday. I think I'll go back one evening this week since the car pass I bought is good for 7 days.

A few more photos from Brazil: a little visitor, then two more visions of paradise, a perfect beach, and a wary encounter

A few flowers from this morning

Flowers from our home garden . . .
KIT: K-1 with (adapted) Pentax 67 55mm f 4.0. Loving this close-focussing lens for my flower photography. MFD is so short, around 10 inches, that it is easy to fill the frame with a single medium-sized blossom, and yet back up just a few feet and capture a fairly large expanse of garden area. None of the photos taken today at dawn's early light required any post processing except minor cropping for formatting purposes.

Thanks Frederic! And wow yourself, those second 2 shots are my fave's from this set. Nice Bokeh & Colors, so sharp too.

Beautiful. The success of a photograph often comes from how the shapes of subject matter are revealed by the light.

Very true... that's what I'm constantly telling a friend of mine who recently bought a Pentax...
The best subject will not save a photo when the light is bad, and you could photograph a t*rd in an interesting light and produce an exceptionally good picture.
The old advide to "follow the light"/"it's all about the light" really is true.

+1 on that comment. Beautiful lighting. A local pro always says to keep in mind that "photography" means making pictures with light.
