Once he go back home and tried to post process the images he realized what a mistake he had made. The camera on the phone is a snapshot machine. The digital equivalent of the cameras with the drop in film 110 cartridges or the Disc cameras. I would bet that more images are deleted today than were taken on a average day in 1990.
Phones have their place for sure, but blown up onto 43 inch 4k screens for scrutiny is not their comfy place. Sometimes I take shots with my K1 that I feel are not up to par for my flickr account, however definitely passable on instagram, and I think we have to respect that different cameras are suited for different media consumption with phones being a more 'social media friendly' orientated rather than wedding album/print.
Today's phones are doing pretty well in this regard, I've had a long history of using more unique 'camera phones' until I went the dslr route (and then pretty much carry a camera on my person all the time because I'm mad like that
). I started with the 41 megapixel Nokia 808, then the Samsung S4 Zoom (died within 5 months) and then the Lumia 1020 (returned within a week) and then stayed with the Samsung K Zoom for a couple of years before moving onto the K-50 and using smaller more compact phones.
