I actually agreed with Ross Blainey (the Whisky expert specialist who works for William Grant & Son's that own both Balvenie and Glenfiddich line), that the standard 12yr Balvenie is better than the 17yr! The 17yr sure packs a punch, the vapours are just a little extreme for my liking (I found it harder to pick up on the flavours etc, vapour and strength overpowering), it's probably made better with a splash of water. The 14yr Caribbean however was excellent too (hints of rum).

Favorite bridge shot

I visited the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan last weekend. I was quite disappointed in how the morning fog obscured the majestic bridge so I had to get creative. This was shot with the D FA 28-105. The more I use that lens the more I like it!

Proof for those who doubt this is a fine portrait lens.

bokeh

LeRolls, that is a really cool setting, love it.

Three different bokeh, not what I would call great...just different.
Best Regards, Bob

There was once a time when I had to put miles on the clock because I had a car under the tax scam scheme that I drove from Adelaide the Halidon and turned around to go home. Got a few pictures on the way.

A modest distance along a trail to get this view of a natural bridge (the trail continues along the left). We did go farther to get a view of a second bridge, but it was a much longer hike to get down to either one, so we passed, not because we couldn't do the distance, but we had miles to go and things to see before sundown, and we did not want to sacrifice the time.

That country could swallow up the unwary traveller. Thank you for an interesting series.

If you'd like to see country that can "swallow" people, look at the image I posted on the "scenics" thread this morning of Alaska. On the other hand, in that landscape a lone hiker could be spotted a long way off.

BTW: An enduring mystery. Family went missing while vacationing in Death Valley. Their vehicle was located, parked, empty, but no trace of the people has ever been found.

Also of interest. Way back several hundred Spanish "conquistador" soldiers went marching into the Amazon, heading toward the sea from a location inland. Hundreds of men with tons of equipment. Not a trace seen or found. "Bermuda Triangle" enthusiasts should love this tale.
