I've been blessed to work with Steve Coleman for more than 15 years now, we just got back from an European tour where we played the Casa del Jazz Festival in Roma.
This stage was set in a very nice looking parc, with wonderful Pine trees.

This concert took place the day of the Lunar Eclipse, this was a very special night !

Picture taken with the 24-70mm. during the soundcheck, a panorama of 6 vertical shots, taken on tripod.

Which lens are you using?

I use manual focus with the LED viewfinder most of the time (the magnified view is accurate), with the camera on a tripod, and I use a remote shutter release, with the electronic shutter on. But the auto focus is very good for hand held shots. Many variables affect focusing accuracy. I use manual settings to try to manage those. The settings for this photo were f/18, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, with fill flash. There was a slight breeze that affected the accuracy.

Keep using it, it took me a while to figure it out. I learn something new each time I use it.

Floyd.
Floyd,
Thanks for the advice. Your image is tack-sharp.......very nice. I have owned dozens of cameras during my 50+ years as a photographer and was surprised at all of the out of focus shots I had with this first real outing with the K-1 and 28-105 lens. Seemed like one or the other was faulty.......bought used, so who knows. Will try your suggestions and maybe pick up a good manual lens as well. My images were mostly focused on things that weren't the main subject.

I know that you did not quote me, but just one question. Did you use just one or multiple focusing boxes? Sel-9, single..? Just because it most definetly will choose easyest one to focus(brightest, most contrasty one). With multiple focusing points, it happens to have less success that with single. Especially when trying to catch small details or even landscape. K-1 original still has the same as other older models that it also tends to focus further away. (Main reason why I try to get some money for upgrade towards mk2.)

I was away for a bit, in the Virginia Beach area, vacationing with my family and so no photos posted (although I was taking plenty). Here are a few with the K-1 II and the DFA 24-70mm.

The single focus point made auto focus useful for handheld photos. Swamp Azalea handheld autofocus examples I took yesterday.
