In my case, when I was a impetuous , young man it took many years of learning how to extricate myself from a series of scrapes, sticky situations and unfortunate choices. In the end I have felt that the American humourist, Will Rogers said it best and in a way that I can readily identify with, when he spoke these words :
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. "
To reinforce this message, Will Rogers also said about the different learning styles of people:
" There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves. "
