Originally posted by Schraubstock Rob, this is a lovely take, with the seagull entering the frame at a fortuitous moment and the bow of the tourist vessel in the right bottom corner could not have sailed into the picture at a better time and there is just enough of it to ballance the picture. The colour of everything in the pic is spot on.
Overall a very nice photograph and there is lots to look at, albeit a bit underexposed.
Travel photography doesn't come much better than this.
Cheers
Thank you for all that. I appreciate your comments particularly as I enjoy many of your photos, too.
The gull was the icing on the cake in that shot, for me, as I’d waited for the boat to move into the right position, and I saw the bird approaching as I brought the camera up to my eye.
I do tend to “expose to the right” a lot of the time, to avoid blowing highlights, which means I have to be careful to preserve the range when I adjust in post. I judge the final exposure on screen from PS5 with my 27” iMac, so it looks right there, but I sometimes find that things do look slightly underexposed by the time they hit Flickr or here. I’ve no idea why that is.
