A sad photo from me.......Poor Bailey has been diagnosed with Kidney failure......not much we can do sadly.

K-1 & 77
Sorry to hear your sad news. Pets just don't live long enough for us, but you have a fine picture for keepsake. We had cats die of kidney failure and there were suggestions of using the wrong cat food. Why so much kidney failure diagnosis?
I wonder if it is the easiest without exploratory surgery for the likes of cancer etc.?

Thats a big part of it. Generally, it's picked up quite late as the little fellows just can't tell us someting is wrong untill major symptons show..... then a lot of the time major subsequent damage has been done to the kidneys and there's not a lot that can be done. We could undertake some invasive biopsies etc to get a better handle on the underlying cause, but we don't want to put him through that given any likely prognosis isn't good..... and he's a nervous wife is very very fond of him and would easily spend a $100k to save him if it could be done.

With Bailey (8yo), we can, in hindsight, see that little things like extra paw licking etc change a few months ago. Now it's mostly managing his diet and excercise to maximise his remaining as time as pain free as we can.

I would have think that DR tobe the same whether it is crop or ff mode.
On a pixel level you are correct, but the thing is that if you are viewing at the same size, you see noise creep in the shadow areas a lot faster if you are only working with the crop portion of the sensor rather than the whole thing. This is the difference between the screen and print buttons on DXO Mark.

If you look at the crop of the K-1 , it is roughly equivalent to a K5. However, the K5 has an iso 80 available for it that the K3 doesn't have and if you look at the two cameras, at iso 100, the K3 and K5 are exactly the same with regard to dynamic range and SNR. It is only the iso 80 that puts the K5 a little on top with regard to dynamic range.

Anyway, long story short, I didn't really get a full frame camera to shoot it in crop mode much. I just used the crop mode here mainly to try it out and because the DA 15 is such a sweet lens, particularly with regard to its flare resistance (and completely unsable on anything bigger than APS-C).

Here are a couple of sunset shots from yesterday evening, shot with the DFA 24-70.

Testing the multi-exposure drive mode at a local pond to get that soft-water look.

Camera was suspended upside down from my tripod about 2" above the water. Can't use WiFi control for multi-mode, so reverted to my Oppilas wireless trigger.

Sigma 24-70 at 33mm
Av averaging 1/6sec
ISO 100
30 exposures in total.
