some old shots

Not the best shooting but oh well, I need practice. Would like to have shot this old beauty in a different location. Asked around for the owner but did not find him. Was told that he bought it in the state of Indiana.
Best Regards, Bob

couple old long lens shots

First one a high ISO Monarch. The hairy bug in this second shot reminds me of Michael Keaton in the movie "beetlejuice"

It can produce some quite nice bursts at f/5.6, though.
I'll check it out, thanks for the tip. I've always stopped it down more than that.

In honor of the Chess Championship going on right now...

Chess Championship?

Looks Drawish to Me...

Both shot with the FA 135 and every one of my son's Chess games against each other does end a draw...

Nice pictures I guess most of the spectators were not happy with the 12 draws, but I've seen all the games and the level of play was extremely high. Probably best ever in a WC.

Are you going to watch the rapid tiebreaks on Wednesday? who do you cheer for?

Looks like the human wave attack gambit being played by both sides.

I was home when the Fisher/Spasky championship was played. It was broadcast live in PBS with several grand masters explaining what was going on. You could feel the anguish in Boris Spasky as Bobby Fisher just destroyed him mentally in each game.

In one game he made a weird opening move that took Spasky something like 10 minutes to reply to. Before Spasky even made his first move he was in time trouble.

Just smashing, and conclusively dispelling any black Friday remorse I might be having about the D-FA* 50 - thanks!

A few from me, handheld (lazy) D-FA 24-70 this time.

That's a nice group. Seems to me I photographed that castle from the other side. but as I was with a tour, there were no options about place or time to take picture of it.

Thanks. I am rooting for Caruana, but mostly I'd like to see interesting things. It's all way above my head and while the computers can see mistakes, I can't usually until I see someone exploiting their opponents weakness. That's what hasn't really been present here to this point, but my guess is with the shortening of the time we'll see more little errors -- probably more on Caruana's side.

I've read about Fisher and looked at some of his games. He was definitely head and shoulders above his competitors and didn't always do things "by the book," which gave him a serious advantage.

Wow...what a great photograph of the vintage Renault tractor in the garage. The lighting, composition and HDR (?) work very well in this photo.

I wonder what the other machine might be ?

We have many tractors in the western Canadian prairies where I'm from, but no Renault's that I've seen. Interesting to note the external flywheel on the smaller machine and external power take off, on the Renault. I'm sure they were also used as stationary engines during their life, aside from their primary purpose as tractors. Useful machines by the look of it.
