Nice dramatic sunset last night. Also, the yucca are blooming liek we haven't seen in a few years and those are always pretty cool too.

Definitely a magical moment. The sort of conditions and lighting you wish you could conjure on demand, just to be cheered a bit at how beautiful this Earth can be.

This is something I had not seen since I moved here many years ago: a full (and nearly double) rainbow. I quickly realized the 28-105 lens was not going to cut it so I swapped it out for the 15-30. The picture is not the best quality, but I caught it just before the thunder storm behind me moved in and everything dissipated.

Final version of The Italian Bridge

Thanks to all who commented and made suggestions for my picture of an Italian Bridge.

I finally went for a pano format 16:9. After dodging/burning I added a Gaussian blur to everything except the bridge. Then added a Vignette. I think I have what I was after which is a picture that evokes the past.

I like it very much. Sometimes I add some gentle touches of light.. Well done and thank you for sharing.

I think this now works better, it looks more dynamic. My wife literally just walked past my shoulder and said "Oh... what's that? Is that thingy on the bridge? What is it? That's cool..."... so I think you could say mission accomplished

Dunes In B & W

From early this morning at the Imperial Sand Dunes in southeastern California. this spot is 30 minutes from my home, and I can finally get shots because it's too hot for the off-roaders, so no tracks. Sprinkles yesterday made for interesting patterns on right foreground.

HD D-FA* 70-200 @70mm, f/11, and PS. B&W conversion in NIK Silver Effex after normal processing in Lightroom and Photoshop.

A couple of FA77 and 43 shots from a public speaking event I cover. Public speaking is the worst, no flash, completely at mercy of the venue lighting and when the speaker uses a projector (typically always) it's just shooting into blackness! I try to keep ISO down to under 3200 but that means a lot of spam as I'm relying on low shutter speeds working well with that moment and the speakers movements/pauses.
