So-so image of mountain laurel that would benefit from cropping, but I'm posting the image uncropped and issuing a challenge = find the beetle (it's a weevil).

Found it. Looks like it had a hard days night.

As a newcomer to the K1, my contribution to any "which lens should I get first" is now unquestionably the DA35/2.4 . Ridiculously cheap, light, small and it has character on the K1. (I do need a lens hood for it though). If only it was weathersealed, lol. Incidentally, are any of the smaller primes weather resistant?

These are jpegs, two of them are at iso1000 and i still love the oof area's.
So many choices, much of which depends on what you like to shoot. I'm an avid fan of the FA Ltd lenses for what I believe to be fantastic focal lengths that are usable in a wide variety of settings, built like a tank and offer completely unique oof rendering to a lot of other glass. They have optical flaws which I don't mind and welcome a lot of them such as flare. They are expensive but arguably priced correctly.

For the 35mm length I would suggest looking at the new HD FA 35/2 as well as the HD DA 35/2.8 Macro Ltd, which is not supposed to be FF compatible but is still usable under a wide variety of shooting conditions. It's quite possibly the best 'walk around' lens I have ever owned.

Weather sealing wise I owned the HD DA 15 and 21 and sold them both due to not having weather sealing and instead bought the HD DA 20-40, which again is not meant for FF but I find I can get around a lot of the limitations. It helps to own a crop sensor camera (I have a KP too) which makes these risky 'non ff' purchases a bit easier to make.

The HD DA 35/2.8 Macro Ltd. was the first lens that I got when I bought my K-1. I use it 99% of the time. Sometimes I have to crop the corners, but I usually crop my photos anyway.

Yes, the above shot is one of the reasons why I sold my HD DA 35/2.8 Macro Ltd, it wasn't that it wasn't a good lens but I got my macro needs satisfied elsewhere from using the Velvet56, it just works better for what I use macro for (food, wedding rings, stuff like that). Once I decided The Velvet 56 was good at macro and also offered something different for portrait work around the 56mm focal range, I then acquired the FA43. So after the FA43 I decided that worked better for low light and portraiture than the 35 Ltd, so I felt I couldn't justify holding onto it. After using the FA43 and falling in love with it's bokeh, I decided my 35mm range would eventually be satisfied by the FA31, so again another reason not to hold onto it.

It's a funny thing to let go of good glass, I've done it before with the DFA100 Macro. None of those lenses are bad, they just don't fit in with what I use a camera for.
