OK, now that is just crazy cool! Very nice shot Matt.

Question, I peaked at the Flickr shot and it says 20 seconds... would the star tracker have eliminated the star trails, but also have damaged the sharpness of everything else? (I'm ashamed to admit, I haven't even fired up the GPS or tracker on K-1 in all the time I've owned it. I haven't had much opportunity for night sky's in the cloudy tropics and being near Tampa with all the light pollution, it just seems like it would kill batteries faster, and I can tell by looking at the pic where it was taken, heh.)
Thanks,
Eric
Thanks!
I think the answer is yes to both of those questions.
It was also windy and a lot of my shots are a little blurry from that as well as it being a difficult focusing situation.

I didn't bother with the tracker because like you suggest, it could make a cloud blur and that was my subject. The stars were just a nice backdrop and I didn't worry about their sharpness much.

Yep, I once go some of these, but much less spectacular than yours. I remember it was a gamble to catch at the right moment that flash of light in diffusing in the clouds.
That aspect was easy last night as the lightning was almost constant for multiple hours!
The hard part was focusing correctly in the dark and timing shots for when the wind would slightly let up for a moment.

A couple of B&W trying to make the most of a blah day about to rain.

Pentax K-1 smc PENTAX-FA 31mm F1.8AL Limited /7.1 31.0 mm 1/200 iso400 A custom preset of mine in PS for B&W conversion.

I thought the PS IR conversion worked here, though I did have to tweak it, as the defaults didn't look quite right (looked over-done) out of the box.

As promised, another attempt at star trails with the k-1.

I spent several hours shooting 226 frames the other night, from just after sunset, until the moon came up. I processed the image a couple of different ways. Here is one. Click through to my Flickr album to see the other versions.

The arc from left to right is a pass by the international space station.

Agreed, that is a fantastic capture and nicely rendered. Bravo indeed!

The Last One.

Today I received what I think to be I the last Lensbaby Burnside 35 purchasable (new) for Pentax K Mount in Australia.
Lensbaby are now discontinuing their support for Pentax mount, sad days indeed.

Never understood LB reluctance to build their lenses using T mounts. Not like there are any electrical contacts to stop it.
Thanks,
barondla

Guess I need to dig out the Muse and Composer to try them on the K-1.

Didn't have to work today and the temperature is bearable since it is about to rain, so I took my new to me K-1 out to snap a few pictures.
