Yes George, that is the very body of water it is. Since I only live about 20 minutes drive from that I go there about 2 times a week in the spring and fall. The other day during a light rain the hollows had the steam or fog but I could not spot a scene that captured it well. But I will return in a day or two and perhaps see something different. Every time I go there I can hear that song "as long as the grass shall grow" and think about what it was like when I was a youngster. But that is progress and it is a very beautiful lake that thousands of tourists enjoy.
Best Regards, Bob

This was a surprising sound, I don't usually hear them call in flight

Eric, your bird in flight shooting is superb, love the first shot.

A delightfully casual portrait, shot in difficult lighting conditions. A closer (perhaps non-2:3) crop would remove the distracting light fitting, even if it did signal the source of the lighting issue.

repp, nice idea to show the one odd tree among the forest of pines. Even better: crop as a portrait orientation, eliminating most of the sky & water. That would give the birch/aspen greater impact among the pines.
Thank you I’ll consider that crop

A woodpecker finishing off the elderberries. This is a ridiculous iso 40000. Cropped slightly and the background blurred and darkened.

Thx, Bob. Still developing more GBH shots standing on a log at lake edge-will post soon.

I second that suggestion to crop out the overhead lights. Nice portrait.

Near GBH vs far GWE

HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6ED DC AW ƒ/5.6 450.0 mm 1/2000 iso200

I had to move fast to get these 2 shots the way I wanted. I didn't get the framing quite the way I wanted, but I think it sorta works.

40,000 ISO? Incredible! Could you explain in more detail how you managed to reduce the noise so well?

I like the natural framing on that last shot Bobby, very cool set. Makes me want to take a trip home to the north.
