The first one has dramatic lighting and great color contrast from blue to orange. Very pleasing.

Picture 2/3 from my mini-series on pocket watches. Also taken with the Arax 80mm f/2.8 TS lens. LED lighting.

I wanted to create a "slice" of light but didn't have an optical snoot with adjustable blades to narrow the beam. I experimented with an old zoom lens. It works really well. By zooming and focusing I could adjust the size and blur of the beam.

Excellent light on those waves. I also really like the leading line of the rocks that creates a sense of 3D-like depth in this photograph.

Second that. Excellent detail and spot-on timing. (do not disillusion by admitting "just lucky" for the timing).
But it was! We were driving along Going to the Sun Road and spotted a small herd coming down from the cliffs to cross the road. Pure luck we were there when they did that!

I was at Glacier NP in 1991. I swear that it is impossible to take a bad shot there. The scenery is just spectacular. Driving along Going to the Sun Highway it is a real white knuckle experience if you are not used to driving in the mountains.
This was my first time and it was awesome. I need to return again.

Super photos. Very creative lighting method. I wouldn't have thought of using a zoom that way.
Thanks for sharing,

Great job of pre visualization a photograph and then making it happen with the tools you have on hand. Excellent tutorial. Well done. Great photograph.

Not at all ! It is chopped shallots and onions with tomato sauce, White wine, Cognac and cayenne pepper. The monk fish is cook in that sauce. It is a french recipe "sauce armoricaine" which has migrated to "sauce Américaine"
