A few years ago one was killed by a car near where I live. It had an old tag on it and the driver took it to the local Department of Conservation office to report it. They had to go through paper records to find the tag. the computer records did not go back that far. The old gent was 38 years old. The oldest bald eagle ever documented in the wild. The next oldest on record was 28 years old.
The original bird had probably passed the treasured tag to one of his grand kids.

That's a capture that must have taken patience and persistence. The little tree creeper we have here moves so spastically quick, and disappears behind a trunk so quickly and often they are real challenge to photograph.

We have had a lot of rain in the past weeks (as you probably can guess from the water level of the river) but today is nice and sunny.
Spent a few hours on my bicycle with only few stops to take photos.

A couple from Paris trip over Valentines Day. Rain stopped long enough for about 3 hours of shooting.

The bird was taken from a nest in Minnesota brought to NY to be raised and then released near the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in the Finger Lakes Region. It had successful nests for many, many years before disappearing. Biologists figured it finally got driven off by a younger male. His whereabouts, and fate, were unknown before he was killed by the car. It was eating road kill when the car hit it. His sudden reappearance rewrote the book on how long a bald eagle can survive in the wild.

Glad he survived the close call and hung around for pics. Great shots!

These turbines may look huge, but with a rating of 1.5MW they are actually quite small by today's standards. They are located just a little more than 1 km away from my house
In the last couple of years I was involved in some engineering activities for turbines between 5MW and 10MW ... these are real "monsters" in comparison.
