An outing for the D-FA 70-210/4 at the WIldfowl and Wetland Trust reserve at Slimbridge.

The Pentax website has a special page for this lens that emphasises its portability and close focus. I don't think its a competitor of a long macro, nor a rival to a Star lens, but it is much easier to carry around all day than either. Full frame or not, I think it might be better suited to my KP.

The dragonfly is a dream capture. Wasted a lot of film trying to image one that well.

Thanks for the compliment! I would surely have missed this in the film days.

Males are much easier than females when it comes to DIF.

I find the key is to reject single insects but set up when you see more than one. I watch for territorial behaviour, especially at the boundaries of territories. They will often come back again and again to the exact same spot.

Four figures on the shutter speed, give yourself a chance by stopping down and set the ISO free.

The theory works for beeflies too.

Osprey Near Impact

Captured an Osprey fishing just before it hit the water. Wouldn't want to be the fish. Although in this series the fish got away. Lens was the DA*60-250 w/DA 1.4x AW TC. Shutterspeed was1/1250. There were three Ospreys fishing while I was there with four up in the air at one point.

I've chased bee flies with film as well. I don't think I've scanned either a dragonfly or bee fly as-close-as-I-got-to-what-I-wanted image.
