Castle in the Air

K-1 with the FA31 Ltd. Coaxing a non-flat sky out of the original image took a lot of work in CS5 and Topaz Studio, but it does demonstrate the DR of the K-1.

Taken on the outskirts of Würzberg, one of the many charming cities and towns along the Main River in Germany.

Thanks, Mark. I wonder if the K-1ii would have required less work to get the final result...

The DR of the K1 is indeed very good.
I find that in many cases nowadays, I don't even need to take 2-3 exposures and can squeeze out sky and shadows from 1 shot.

Lovely image, good PP work.

It brings back memories as M and I were in Wurtzburg about 1972. She was looking at fossils in a museum there. Our hotel had a view up to the castle from the breakfast room (not the same building as the one in your image).

First time out to play very briefly with a new toy - an Irix 15/2.4. Big learning curve to assimilate soon and post in Darktable 3.2 ... I had to shoot very quickly since we are in confinement. I was out getting bread via the bicycle and had little time for the round trip to downtown.

I felt the smoke was a fair replacement for fog in this forest scene. They were still dealing with "hot spots"
during our visit and the Creek Fire has burned 378,701 acres (153,255 ha). And I still do not know why this lens
is so underrated?

Why on Earth would someone go to Luxembourg, or anywhere else in Europe, to sleep in New York?

Thank you, Walter. There are many castles around there, of course, some in better repair than others, but all picturesque.
