I just love your style.
That's nice of you to say. I'd actually feel rather uncomfortable teaching others as I feel that I still have so much to learn.

LOVE the image of the old farmstead. Is the Soligor as old as I think? Seems to me there have been no Soligor-branded lenses on the market for 30~40 years.

Is that a cigarette in her mouth? Nasty!
I understand how you feel about teaching. Taught at a small college for 0ver 30 years, but never felt I knew as much as I should. My photo club was after me for months to do a program on macro/close-up, but I always felt that most people in the room knew at least as much as I did. There's a projection thing going on, a mental notion that if I know it, it must be common knowledge.

Hi Guys,
I check pentaxforums almost daily, but almost never post since so far I've not felt I have anything meaningful to contribute.
Anyway, I'm currently putting the K-1 through its paces in Iran, so I thought I might finally have some pictures you don't see every day!

@LeRolls - Squirrels love it! A girl that smokes often needs a good stiff drink too...and then some dancing...and then..and then....

Very nice shot, well done!

@ranchy - They also love a girl in a short dress that lets their legs "breathe". Your girl keeps catching the eye of Otis Squirrel so he found you plenty worthy for upgrade to Site Supporter, with the corresponding benefits afforded. He encourages you to keep up the fine artwork you provide to us all...and all the little anxious squirrel viewers too! Congratulations!

Otis also reminds....Donate when you can to help keep this great site going strong.....donate for a friend or a worthy shooter that could use a little boost.....Otis can't do it all by himself!

Regards!

Now on to my question of the day....
I shot my K1 at my Mom's big huge 90th Birthday Party yesterday and used a Sigma 17-70 APS-C lens in crop mode. The shots were mostly decent but lacked the pop of better optics. This is a good range and I could use a new FF lens in or around this range. Does anyone have any suggestions and any examples to point me to? I will surely appreciate the advice!

One that worked pretty well...

My great nephew on the left and my youngest grandson on the right...he's named after me and is a genuine "Rupert Type"!

Another that was "acceptable"

My oldest son and wife...Mrs Rupert on the left.

I just think there must be something in this range that gives more pop and definition? Or maybe I just need some lessons in shooting people?

Regards!

Thank you ! Yes from 1960's and 1970's I think. Made from an unknown Japanese company for American Allied Impex Corporation and branded Soligor. On ebay.de you can still find 2-3 per year.

Nice little family Rupert !

I'm flying home today to visit my parents and figured I might as well take this little detour to the Black Canyon on the way to the airport.

K-1 & 15-30 edited on my surface at the airport

Rupert, the Pentax D FA 28-105 is a great lens. It is my walking around lens on my K1. Similar range as your 17-105 in crop mode.

FWIW, We celebrated my father in laws 97th birthday on August 20. He was in the Marines from 1939 to 1948. Survived Pearl Harbor, Midway and Guadalcanal. So I figure he is not dying at all. In 2006 he took my wife out to Pearl Harbor for he 65th Anniversary Ceremonies. Arrived on Saturday. Heart attack on Sunday. Stents installed on Tuesday. Attended the ceremonies on Thursday and they flew back home on Saturday. When they got back I forbade him from ever going back to Pearl Harbor. He has been there three times and twice somebody or something has tried to kill him so no more pushing his luck.
