I kind of doubt it. Seems like this James Bales was some kind of a mountain man. His cabin is on the Roaring Fork Motor Trail that runs out of Gatlinburg into the Smokies.

It seemed unlikely to me that it was the James Bales noted for his conservative Christian writing, as he was primarily in the west.
