Finally got out to play with my Tamron 400 F4 in the daylight... I tried to avoid lugging my 8lb Bogen tripod and just used my monopod. Seemed to work ok. I also tried hand holding a few action shots... it worked OK if I kept shutter speed way up.

This is a bit of a crop, but the lens and K1 combo has resolution to spare.

Still learning my way around this lens, do's and don'ts etc. In some ways, it is more forgiving than I thought it would be and going back to Manual Focus isn't bad as I remembered, in some ways I think the keeper rate might be higher than with AF, especially as I get more practice and re-learn techniques. I can't fit it in my Lowepro Slingshot 302aw with the camera mounted, but it does fit in its own silo with the K-1 in another slot with lens cap, so I will be able to hike with it. I should be pretty buff after a few more long hikes.

Thought I would give the daytime moon reflection a shot.

Jetski action attempt with 400mm turned out ok I think. What should we call manual focus action panning? MFAP? Heh...

Fascinating. I didn't know such things existed...

Next you'll be telling us it isn't real whiskey. If that's the case, I don't even want to know where that came from!

@LeRolls - superb, as always.

Is this your usual single flash setup? With my very little lighting experience, I'm having a bit of trouble deciding on position of the light-source... I'm assuming it's mounted on the hot-shoe for this one, or held very near the camera?

Nice pose, too, from a very beautiful model.
Thanks. Same lighting setup I always use. Speedlight with Lightsphere connected via flash sync cord. I hold the light away from the camera usually.

'K'50/1.4 @ ISO4000, 1/40

I like fog. But it really makes it hard to get good shots but I kinda like this.

I've also got no clue how to get rid of the 'coronas' from the light towards the dark on the left, they're resizing artifacts.

Its a shame you missed focus on the fly. Im curious, as I see missed focus alot and im wondering if its the lens or the K1? Several of my lenses have front focusing issues and it can be especially hard to nail focus at those wide apertures.

That's a possibility

If you don't mind, which speed light are you using? Would much like to try to add an artificial light source to my portraits, so far I mostly tried natural lighting
