How are you finding the A20? It's the one lens I've not yet taken out on the K-1 (to be honest, I always found it's performance on the K-3 to be somewhat lacking).

Beautiful work, Todd! Where is that?

Nice b/w treatment, stubyles. Looks like you made a good choice. That's not a lens I'm familiar with, but it looks like it works great with the K-1!

Nice work with the FA 77, pearsaab!

Here are a few shots from today....

First two are with the Helios 44k-4 58mm. Both wide open, I believe. f/2
The rhododendren was taken with the FA 77 wide open, f/1.8. The FA 77 is absolutely killer on the K-1. I'm shocked how sharp it is at 1.8 and the bokeh is lovely.

Ranchy,

The bokeh on your Takumar is beautiful - lovely shots. I'm glad you like mine - the 24-70mm is incredible and locked on 100% accurately absolutely instantaneously (i.e. it feels like it focuses as fast as your human eye which focuses so fast that you don't even notice.) The FA 77 focuses slightly slower (although still pretty fast) although on that one I missed focus on the eyes in around 5% of shots. Not sure however if this was user error i.e. I just didn't quite lock on to the eye accurately enough with the centerpoint.

Overall though I'm very pleased with the results and some of the details on skin, eyes etc astounded me on the full size Raw's. The combination (gripped) is a joy to use (although feels significantly heavier than the gripped K3 and 17-70 combo I usually use. For studio shooting though I am not going back whereas for travel I think I will continue to use the K3.

thanks Jon...

How i wish there's one 24-70mm available in SG now, i can test and feel how it works!
i better stop thinking of it and go and use more of my Tamron 28-75

Nice to see all these samples with the lenses being used. Other then the wide end of my collection, it looks like most of my lenses will work with the K-1. Very reassuring. I think the only lenses that won't work in FF mode are my Pentax 20-40 and my Sigma 10-20. Keep those samples coming along. :-)

Any starburst photos with the A20/2.8?

Curious too, any other lens which are close to DA15 Starburst?

Working my way through a few lenses with the K-1. All wide open. No NR. SR on. No sharpening. All ISO100, 1/45s. Daylight WB.

FA 50/1.4 @ f/1.4

DA 50/1.8 @ f/1.8

DAL 35/2.4 @ f/2.4

M28/2.8 @ f/2.8

---------- Post added 05-08-16 at 05:29 PM ----------

K-1, M28/2.8 wide open, CIF enabled. Held shutter release down. Started with focus at infiinity and racked it back at a fair clip to check catch-in-focus reaction time. I am impressed.

A20 won't be close in the starburst department, only 6 blade aperture = 6 point star.

A couple portraits from this evening, Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8, both wide open.

Not quite right. The A20 has 5 blades, so it produces a 10 pointed star. However. The flare resistance of the A20 (and for that matter the K18) is rubbish compared to the DA15 (older coatings, older optical designs). You may be able to tease a good looking star burst out of those lenses, but probably only for night time light sources. You *may* be able to tease a star burst with a sunset, but I've yet to manage it with those lenses (shooting into the sun just produces nasty flares). Maybe if I was patient enough to use a tripod and bracketing, I could tease something out in post. I'm not that patient though. I suspect the best options right now are the 24-70 or 15-30 DFA zooms.
