Abandoned hotel in rural Virginia. Taken with the DFA 24-70.
That's the kind of place that should be on everyone's photo tour.

I'm surprised the antiques haven't been looted.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. And... that the hazmat team will be out in their bunny suits removing all that peeling lead paint and probably a good bit of asbestos too, if someone try's to rehab that place.

That first image hints at volumes of history, who was there, how they lived, and what they did to make the place work.

AFTERTHOUGHT: Of the potential valuables still there, probably the best would be the woodwork of the banister in the second image, unless it is badly rotten.

When I get there I'm carrying out the wood stove! The wheelchair for my good friend Jim (Parallax) that just suffered a horrible accident...in case you didn't hear about it?

A vehicle took out his knee, he needs a knee replacement, but it will be three months before he's able to bear weight on it, and probably a bit longer before they can replace his knee. It's obviously just aweful. More details in "why I won't buy a K-3".

Back to a few more from the day out with the DA*300.

I wanted to get wing blur, but freez his flight, I had to pan to do it... I think it would be easier (and sharper) to just crank up the shutter speed and ISO, but then it wouldn't have given me what I wanted.

Everything is a compromise, but I think the main part of the subject is reasonably sharp even though it's only 1/350th ???? Thoughts?

One more of the downed tree, with a dude nice enough to pose on it to give a sense of scale and some color.

Thanks Frederick! That is a great looking flower (cabbage rose?)
Not sure what the dessert is, but it looks so good. You always find the best food... hanging around with you I'd never keep the weight off!

Great rainbow pic! ... but I think I like the 3rd shot best with those clouds and green grass.

Not possible, squirrels multiply faster than anyone can cook them.

The bannister is good shape from what I could tell.
