Just got a hold of the latest version of the Sigma 70-200, and I've got a weeks time to figure out whether it's a keeper or not.... My thoughts so far:
Not as sharp as, say, the FA77.
Doesn't focus too fast in low light. Hunts a bit. But the autofocus is nice and silent.
I like the bokeh.

I really want to test it with some action photography before making my final decision.

Here are my first random shots if you want to help me decide. Most of these were shot wide open. Check the bigger resolution versions on flickr for a better idea of the rendering.

One of your best Art lens shots. You really are coming along nicely with this photo stuff.....so proud of you!

That's just plain gorgeous! Snapped at just the right second...those are gone in no time! Wonderful!

Rainy dark day here.....hardly worth even trying a few shots.

Would loved to have shot this at ISO 400 instead of 12800...but I didn't....so dark out there and he was moving fast....would still make good soup!

Squirrels...always handsome at any ISO, even 10000.

"It might show up right here any minute!"

Thanks Frederic!

This is an amazing set... those feathers really talk to me... and that sky...so many colors. The first flower shot plays with my eyes, I think it's the lighting, and it makes it look like you rotated the photo from upside down. Prolly because the light comes from the bottom. Either way, it made me stope and look a while, which is always a good thing for a photo.

Thanks so much Walter! I've been here lookin' at that for 20 minutes trying to figure out just where it might be......couldn't even come up with a close guess!

We have "resident" floral posters, "resident" girl posters, "resident" squirrel posters, and a few other varieties, and a "resident" Utah poster is a welcome addition you provide!

Regards!

At ISO 12,800 it is what it is.....

Just to throw a curve, I'll finish out the set with the DA*300...

Last Orangutan shot from that day... as Arnold was prone to say, I'll be back.
