The A-H Sprite brings back memories. Had one when I was in college. Only a few of its contemporary cars were more basic*. Mine was nicknamed "the red frog."

* For those not familiar with this most elementary of vehicles: 1) no external door handles; 2) no windows (window-like pieces could be attached along the top of each door frame with a pair of thumb-screws); 3) the soft top did not fold down, it dismantled and was stowed in the boot; 4) no boot/trunk lid, you tipped the seats forward and stuffed whatever into the back; 5) to turn on the heater in cold weather, you tipped up the hood and located a brass thumb-screw valve and opened it; 6) control of hot air inside was managed by a two little doors one each side of the transmission hump approximately opposite driver or passenger knee, flip open for warm air on your legs, flip closed to direct more air onto the windshield/screen (from the driver's seat I could reach the heater door on the passenger side). The four cylinder engine displaced just under one liter and provided me with something over 35mpg. There were a few vehicles back then that had equivalent or simpler amenities, but not very many.
Thanks for the info, WPRESTO. I recognized it as an Austin-Healey Sprite, but that's all I knew.

Nature's Victims

Every year I visit a steep coast at the baltic see and capture nature's victims. Big chunks of ground and sand break out of the coast and take trees with them - no escape. The coast erodes through wind and weather.

This time I had K-1, DA15 and travel tripod with me. To get a feeling of the sceneries dimensions the DA15 in FF Square mode does a really great job - very wide angle in width and height is needed. To get rid of dark corners only a bit of crop has to be done in post - my standard square crop is 4600x4600px. What a pity that the lens' image circle is a little bit too narrow to get a clean Square crop of 4912x4912px. A 4:5 crop in camera landscape orientation gives me clean 3930x4912px. Using the DA15 in FF or Square mode a lot of raw data is lost - that's the price I have to pay. On the other hand these kind of images are not possible in APSC mode or an APSC camera.

I really get accustomed to the angle of view I get with the DA15 in Square mode. So no wonder - sometimes I think about buying a fullframe compatible 15mm lens, maybe an Irix 15. But DA15 is a so wonderful small and lightweight gem … and only two captures in panoramic manner would give me the same …

Howick Historical Village in Auckland. Lens used, DFA 28-105 and Soligor C/D 20mm. Can't wait for the Pentax DFA* 20mm.

I went to Vasquez Rocks and the California Poppy Reserve this past weekend to see what the K-1 can do.

Here's a couple of images I processed in LR.

Hi DimC,
the last one for me in The one!

@longbow
,
light and shadows are well controlled IMHO and to my taste. Otherwise, it could have been like HDR one, that I do not like very much because in that case the light appears as a glare-free "two-dimensional" flat light similar to unnatural daylight.
