OK. I'll bite. I assume a "simmet" is the tea cosy on the seated woman's head.

Nah, A simmit is a Scottish word for a man’s undershirt or vest, although simmits were once sometimes worn by women, and it was originally made of wool or flannel. The word is sometimes spelt semmit, but its pronunciation follows the first spelling, however it is spelt.

You have to feel sorry for him, but those poor young lasses who can't afford many clothes deserve our sympathy, too.

Staggering Detail

A cross post from today, demonstrating the staggering, IMHO, level of detail the K1 is capable of capturing.

You've posted several images of that pretty russet-colored squirrel with the big ear tufts. Interesting to me, it is closer in appearance to, for example, the Kaibab squirrel of the desert southwest than to the squirrels here in the northeast where the habitat and climate are more similar to yours. We do have a small russet-colored squirrel ("red squirrel"), but SFAIK only those from the interior western deserts have such dramatic ear tufts.
