All taken with the K1 and an Astrotech AT65Q refractor with a 420mm FL.

Strange. If you often OOC JPEGs like this one, you may consider submitting your case for support on PF , or send back the camera for repair.

fs999, Frederic, thank you for the compliment. When I first looked at that one photo I thought the choppers were bugs.
Eric, thank you very much for the kind remarks. In regards to your question, heck I noticed the shadows in the first shot soon as I viewed it. That shot is a statement with the shadows as a nice addition.
repaap, great bike shots, really like your fox photo.
mattb123, objective well done.
LeRolls, I prefer the B&W, to me the glass compliments the composition better in that one. Of course the lady looks great in both.
enoeske, nice sunset shot.
Hattifnatt, like your sunset shot
ZeGaby, very striking, pun for sure but I do like that capture.
BruceBanner, that is one really weird shot.
VoiceOfReason, awesome photos
Here are two more sunset shots from the house, the one has far more purple than normal. Best Regards, Bob

IMHO: In the color version, there's a swath of pink-orange about level with the model's head that provides a nice bokeh background for the lady. Converted to B&W, that area becomes more contrasty, with an eye-catching abstract pattern that I think pulls attention away from the model. So IMHO, the color version is slightly better, having no elements that compete with the subject.
Appreciate your humble opinion.

Both are fantastic as are all your photos you post! I have no problem focusing on the main subject
I do prefer the B&W!
Thank you for the kind words.

I think I like the B&W myself, the flare makes it look like she has one black boot & one brown, heh. But... both are still awesome.
Eric
Fixed the shoe. Thanks BTW.

Color version, as the bus stop background glass colors are too nice to pass up on
The light leak colors were added in post as I found the original to be too boring for my tastes hence the B&W version.

@LeRolls color version is better for my eyes, this time. Wow !
Glad you like it.

A nice mix of opinions. Seems like both versions have their merits.

Another vote for the first image, for me it's a bit like always having the nearest eye in focus.

Delightfully disorienting and thought provoking.

Excellent astro-images. I'm not familiar with the telescope but i surmise it has a 65mm objective, correct? Really good results from a relatively small-aperture scope.

Yep, it is a fairly small aperture refractor with quadruple elements and a built in field flattener. Great for wide field astrophotography.

A kestrel getting flying lessons. The adults were flying by with treats and landing in adjacent branches and trees. This little one was complaining vicoferously, but eventually took to flight.

A sidenote; my companion was shooting a D500, and his shots had quite a bit more noise, hence less detail. I was using crop mode to get a higher frame rate, and the shot is cropped again. I haven't quite mastered the K1 in all shooting circumstances that I encounter, but when I do the results are impressive.

First one by a wide margin. They are the subject of the photo IMO.
Sure, I agree, it's just sometimes we look for something different than the usual take. I was thinking of actually cropping out the pistols and stamens all together and trying it as just the veined backside of the petal with the shadows.
Thanks for commenting.

First my far. OOF main subject is annoying, OOF secondary subject (shadows) is perfectly acceptable. SUGGESTION: Crop them with all elements in as close-as-possible identical positions, then try stacking just those two files.
I might try that for kicks, thanks for the idea,
Eric

Thanks Bobby, that seems to be the consensus. I dunno... there is still something about the second shot I like, not that it's "better" just, also feels worth doing something with.
