I just finished a 3 day lifestyle shoot with a clothing company. It was fun and different from my usual subject matter so it was pretty interesting.
The final stage was branding and roping last night. Here's one from the roping part. This young lady was very impressive in her riding and roping ability and she's gorgeous! I got a ton of nice shots of her. The client is pleased.

Sometimes I try to include things in the OOF background that I feel make the shot as much as the subject itself. Usually just colors and/or shapes like the reds here.
Sometimes it works... others... meh. I like this, but I think the reds might be overpowering the subject and droplets a smidge. Thoughts?

Sports, action and wildlife all in one, and a fashion shoot thrown in for good measure! Just out of interest, how many missed-focus discards did you have?

I haven't gone through everything yet but there are definitely some missed focus shots in there. Not that many from a quick go through but I noticed some as I shot them for sure. For these wide and close action shots I used a Tamron 28-75/2.8, AF-C, and all 33 AF points. Fast shutter speeds allowed me to pan with the action but keep the background sharp. I was close, maybe 5 ft away which probably helped a lot. So does pre-focusing at about the right distance before the action burst. Most of this shoot which went on for three days was not fast action and AF on more static scenes had no issues whatsoever.

The longer action shots where I was getting a rider coming at me with a nice view behind them had a lower hit rate. I shot the Tamron 70-200/2.8 and similar settings as above but with a smaller AF area (9 or 11 points, selectable). Even though the hit rate was lower I still got the shots I needed. And the missed AF was just locked on to the wrong thing in my shot which is not that big of a flaw IMO. The camera does not know what I'm trying to shoot. I wonder if the Pentax 70-200 would have done any differently.

They're cardinal tetras, and it's been about 4-5 months. They're very shy when they see a big scary human walking around, so the only way of getting this shot was setting the k1 to interval shooting for five minutes and hoping I got something.

Very nice bokeh. Love the colors. The large red one is pretty strong. Maybe it could be placed behind the main subject or toned down a bit? I often try different variants.

Originally I was certain I'd need to use HDR to achieve this, so I took 5 stacks. Ended up using one of the underexposed ones, pulling shadows and adjusting highlights, rest were not needed.
DR keeps surprising me with flexibility
