Looks like it was supposed to be like shooting through muslin? Cool!

Nice example of the Irix. I am sorely tempted the more I see posts from it like yours & Frederic's.

Question - Is the Firefly the same glass, just in a lighter non weather resistant barrel, or is there other differences? I'd prefer the lighter package, if optics are same. (and the lighter price of course)

Wow, that lens is a sleeper. Great job using it, I like!

Thanks Bob!

That second web, and the last shot from your friends property are really nice wall hangars. I always marvel and the symmetry found in nature, like webs from orb weavers and the like.

Have you started printing anything from your K-1 yet? I've done a few, and I once I got my new monitor, and did a closed loop calibration, I think the prints are just a joy to see. I wish I had room for more on my walls. So, I settle for doing photo-books, got a few on the shelf now, and also do a rolling slide show on my 60" plasma TV when I have company for atmosphere, heh.

I have really enjoyed following this series immensely! Great body of work, you could easily do a Cuba travel book, just need to fill in some text of your trip.

So same optics, same weatherproof, just a plastic housing is the difference. I was skeptical at first now I am sold. Love the lens.

Some Canonists laugh at me because I switched from Canon to Pentax K-1. I do not really mind, I love the Pentax k-1, indeed. They argue that there is no such enough HD Pentax lenses. Well, the 15-30/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8, 28-105 are stellars without talking about prime lenses (DFA50 and FA100 macro, 31, 77, 43...). Anyway, you do not need to buy all lenses to get on with the best FF OVF IBIS/SR DSLR camera ever made, do you? Your choice is the best one..

SR was what did it for me. It was good on my K-7, it's even better on my K-1. Nikon puts their VR in the lens, to make you upgrade all your glass. On Pentax, all of my primes built back in the 1960s have VR! Every new camera upgrades my lenses!
It probably explains why Pentax is in so much financial trouble, but it sure is nice from the consumer side.

I have had my K-1 for about a week now and I am deliriously happy. The high ISO performance! The dynamic range! People (not here) told me I was crazy to sell all of my Nikon gear to buy a camera to use with <$50 antique glass from ebay, but I think I made the right call.

K-1 with a Promaster (Tamron) EDO LD 70-300. ISO 1600, F8, 1/180s.
Welcome to the Pentax club. I also left Nikon after some 20 years. What a revelation. Love the K1 and what I can get out of it. Enjoy!

Thanks, I didn't know that. I do have the 55 and I love it on my K-5iis. My best lens. Back then when I got the K-1, I made a quick test against a white wall from 2m distance and it had dark corners. Haven't used it on the K-1 since then. Maybe I should try again and compare it to my FA43. I thought I might sell these two and get the upcoming DFA 50mm to replace these two!?
Yeah, full frame lenses vignette. Pentaxians have missed out on this unless they come from the Age of Film.

You'll be able to show this on practically every lens.

At top is the famous Canon 50mm f1.8, courtesy of Ken Rockwell, beneath it the Nikon f1.4.

We haven't seen it yet, but yes, you could sell both your DA*55 and FA43 to get what will surely be a great normal prime in the DFA.

BruceBanner, nice metal-work, good photos.
Hattifnatt, again excellent Havana street shots.
normhead, I like the third photo.
zjacreman, welcome to the forum, very nice shot.
gerax, very nice set of shots from Canada.
ivanvernon, your flower shots of recent are beautiful.
pschlute, stunning portrait Peter, beautiful dog.
Frederic, those first 2 shots are so uncomplicated yet so interesting, simplicity has it's own beauty.
Eric, The valley my friend lives in is so pretty, he & I love sitting on the porch or up on the slope and just enjoying the view. No I have not made prints as yet, but still plan to. Where & how are you doing the prints?
Funny you mention the rolling slide show on the 60" monitor...another friend of mine a photographer, has such a monitor hooked up to his computer & when I visit he checks out my shots the rolling way. Of course he stops on some shots to nitpick the pixels.
Best Regards, Bob
