There is always the option to shoot in the crop mode of the K1, something I intend to do often, even with my FF Bigma 50-500 HSM OS lens. I can get the same size files as I get in my K5IIs and a few extra benefits too...like the much better SR and better low light shooting.
The flexability is one reason I went for the K1 instead of another K5IIs or a K3. There will be times when FF shooting will have an advantage, and I will use it. For me, where most of my shots are for web posting, giant files are unnecessary. If I did a lot of prints, it would make a difference, but I hardly print nowadays.
I have also read several articles about how some lenses "get worse" on a FF camera. None of these articles backed up that idea. Perhaps the lens was never up to a Ltd to begin with, but it doesn't just "get worse" because it isn't. Excellent glass is always better on any camera, there is no secret there. Vignetting aside, the same results should be possible with a FF as with APS-C if compared at the same sizes. Same as if you enlarge a shot in APS-C and find more defects in the result. It is going to depend on what you do, why you do it, and how particular you are.
I'm not going to run out and buy a lot of new glass until I check out what I already have. I could be pleasantly surprised by some of my older lenses.
Regards!
