Very nice and classy images. Do we have access to the Exifs on your gallery ? At least could you tell which lens you used ?

[PS]

Nice.... worth a try reversing the ford in.... part of any new car purchase test drive for me is the take it home and see if it fits in the garage thing.

There's a line which is central on the concrete floor which if my left hand wheels are on I know I've left the other half plenty of room to park her Fiesta.

first winter shots

@Erictator, finally I have returned to photo taking & posting. Man it has been a couple of weeks and there have been so many fantastic pictures posted. Here are my modest contributions to show some contrast and DR as you had mentioned. BTW, really enjoying your series and loved your comment regarding the overlooked importance of costumes.
1st one, Hemlock cones with a wee bit of snow.
2nd one, Holly bush with more snow.
3rd one,The old Massey tractor for a better contrast of the almost black tires against the snow.
4th one, the old Norway Spruce with the young oaks in the foreground.
Best Regards, Bob

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
Will try to keep exifs next time. As for this photos- first & third: sigma 85/1.4; second: sigma 35/1.4 art. All wide opened aperture.

Thanks Bob! Like the tractor, we used to call that National Geographic Red, when we joked about someone slipping in a red umbrella or yellow raincoat just to get a pop of color into a shot and make it more appealing. The black tires do give more contrast, but the red gives it pop in my opinion. Either way, nice work.

I'm about done with the costume series... the next set coming will be from our trip... if I ever finish processing the RAW's dagnabit!

Funny about photographic devices or conventions or tricks. In college in the 60's, we used to deride each other for placing a tree/rock/person in the left or right foreground of a scenic to give some "depth." But I still do it.

Such an overused device will sometimes offer an alternative center of interest, even if it's just another photographer.

No doubts, there's a lovely foreground in your shot! (Or is it middle ground already ?)

I don't know if it's the lens is good, or she's so cute. Probably both.
Thanks, normhead. The lens is fine, though probably not so brilliant like FA* or A* 85mm f1.4.

Some late evening photos (also with Sigma 85mm):

Not everybody

1. FF Mode • 100 ISO • Irix Blackstone 15mm F2.4

2. FF Mode • 200 ISO • Pentax A 50mm F1.7

Rest is film

winter shots

Eric, you got me, I did indeed use the Massey for an NGR shot, glad you noticed.
WPRESTO, very nice photographer photo.
Frederic, like the web shot, but really like the 135 film shot of White'n Hairy. Do you not have snow in your neck of the woods yet?
Here are a few more winter shots. As you can see by the first photo it was a wee bit overcast but even so it was very bright.
1. winter sun.
2. snow on the fur tree.
3. silver birch clump.
4. Natchez checking out the front yard.
Interesting that the sun was quite low but the shadows beneath the young oaks appear to be directly under them. I suppose it was because since the sky was so overcast that the primary light was right from the sky above, just my guess.
Also it amazes me that Natchez looks so very white until she is out in the snow......maybe I need to give her a bath.
Best Regards, Bob
